  18. Before I go ahead and make a second attempt at posting an RFD to
  19. news.announce.newsgroup, I'd like to get the opinions of those of you out
  20. there.  Do NOT post responses to the mailing list.  Rather, direct them to
  21. me at djmccoy@netcom.com.

  23. 1) Is a newsgroup still desired?  If not in the big 7, create an alt.*
  24.    hierachy instead? 
  25.  
  26. 2) If current mailing list service is not what you expect, should it be
  27.    turned over to someone who can dedicate more time and services?
  28.  
  29. I do have another RFD lined up for a newsgroup of
  30. comp.graphics.rendering.lightwave-3d.  It is likely that the discussion will
  31. change "rendering" to "raytracing" as that group "comp.graphis.raytracing"
  32. does already exist.  The RFD will be cross-posted to Amiga, Windows and SGI
  33. based graphic oriented newsgroups.  Seeing as how long it takes to create a
  34. big 7 newsgroup, creating an alt.* group is far easier, however not every
  35. site carries alt.* groups.  Also, those without newsgroup access have asked
  36. for a mail gateway.  I am unable to provide such a service.
  37.  
  38. I find it increasingly more difficult to spend time on the mailing list. 
  39. My new job position has me spending more time on the job and less free time
  40. to do mailing list maintainance and other fun Amiga projects.  This is why I
  41. ask the above questions in an effort to help the list.
